Sharing with Visitors!

Nueva Esperanza has had many visitors this summer.  It is amazing how God has brought us all together—the true vine, connecting us all to Him for His glory!

The Reyes and Houck family worked together to host a team from Grace Baptist in North Dakota.  They were a group of 14 youth and their leaders who worked on two building projects simultaneously.  It was so fun to share with them as they braved the Caribbean sun while digging ditches, hauling sand and gravel, mixing cement and learning to rest and relate during the process.  We had youth from our local church, children’s school and also Jarabacoa come and help!

Amanda Metzler, Santiago Christian School 2nd grade teacher, is teaching a summer program for the girls with our own Greici Roque.  This has been the girls first experience with a full school day and the emphasis has been English—it’s always more exhausting in your second language, but they have done well considering and I am so proud of the amount of English they are learning!  Another significant part of this program is the opportunity for them to receive lunch, the biggest meal of the day in the DR, assuring them two meals every day.

We had another Grace Baptist group from Florida come for a visit to share with the ladies at the workshop and as well as the students.  We had a special time of prayer and worship and our hearts were instantly knit together with this group.  We look forward to sharing with them again in the future.

It was a true “God Wink” when Dana wrote me to ask if she could come for the day with her intern to meet New Hope and take footage for a video that could be used for fund raising.  We had just been talking about the need for a new video and someone with a MAC to help us.  God new exactly what we needed and sent the right girls at the right time… THANKS Christy and Dana!

Jen Wride came for a visit to take some spectacular photos that we were able to be integrated into the video Christy and Dana are working on. She wrote me..."Can I come on Tuesday and take photos?" I love how the gifts of so many are being pooled and united to advance this work.

Julie Pietila also came for a visit with a big order of shoes and bags from Portland.  For old time sake we had to open up a can of green paint and painted together!  The first floor of Nueva Esperanza never looked better….THANKS!

We are confident that God will bring thousands to this project as it belongs to Him.  We see Him using it to bring people to Himself and show of his healing restoring power.  What a gift to be included and to be able to watch Him move every single day!

Romans 12:4-5 (message) In this way we are like the various parts of a human body. Each part gets its meaning from the body as a whole, not the other way around. The body we're talking about is Christ's body of chosen people. Each of us finds our meaning and function as a part of his body.
