What March 8th Means to Us
We are just 10 days away from March 8th.
March 8th is a significant date to us for several reasons.
First, it is the anniversary of our beginning. March 8th, 2011 was the first day we opened our doors. The first day we answered the call to something so much greater than we could have ever imagined. We were terrified yet convinced that this was what we were called to do.
We said yes to our New Hope Girls and began a journey with them that continues today. The growth we have experienced since 2011 has been filled with miracles, battles, dreams and transformation. Every day since we have continued to say yes and it is unfathomable to us how much more is truly ahead.
Second, it is International Women's Day. We believe in celebrating this day with our whole hearts. We are an organization that is rooted in the truth that women are powerful agents of change. We see our girls and we know who they are becoming. We hold their hands and speak out the truth of the kind of woman they will one day be. Strong, courageous, capable, fearless.
The women we employ in our workshop are also their example. These women have also come from the darkest of places. They have faced and overcome more than most do in their lifetime. And they are fighting for their families, their children, for education and their dreams every day.
Third, it is the launch day of our second official collaboration with @verabradley which makes this day ever increasingly special. We are so grateful for this incredible relationship we have formed with a company that truly believes in what we are doing.
They have come to rally, support, offer resources and extended encouragement that will forever be woven into the fabric of New Hope Girls. From the photography department to the design studio to the founder herself we have been held up by countless individuals that have said yes to us, to our mission, to our girls.
As we sit with our stomach full of butterflies we can only anticipate what March 8th will bring. We are already filled with immense gratitude. There is transformation in our midst. Dreams are alive and unfolding. Hope is radiating. Sometimes there isn’t a moment to catch our breath but when we finally take a moment we are undone and truly in awe of what has been entrusted to us.
And we are convinced that more is ahead.
We are convinced that being Created for More will always raise the stakes in our lives. Being Created for more means we keep climbing. We keep dreaming. We keep asking. We continue in hope and belief. We continue for our girls. We show them what it means to see your story through. To walk through the journey, no matter how many setbacks may arise, and believe that what is on the other side will be more beautiful than what we first imagined.
This is March 8th to us. And what a gift it is to name the day as such. To hold it as our own and recognize that it is so much bigger than us. We all have an invitation.
We are all included.
We have all been held and seen by a woman in our lives. We all know what it's like to have a dream so big you're unsure how you'll ever see it through. We have all begun something that we didn't fully understand but were so compelled to say yes and just begin.
March 8th is for all of us.
And we are so excited to celebrate with you.
