Look what the Lord has Done!

On September 26 we posted a blog entitled widows and orphans that told a story about the struggles of one of our widows and our desire to provide work for her and others like her in an effort to prevent the desperation that leads moms to give their daughters away or worse, use them to make money. Two months later we are thrilled to announce the opening of our women to work shop.   Our workshop is hosted in the home of one our dear friends in the heart of the barrio.   She is working to train women that can then earn a fair trade wage for goods they will create and prepare for sale in local and foreign markets. Our first project is the production of beautiful sandals.

Each sandal is hand woven and sewn and takes about three hours to create.  Women are able to earn more than double the average wage in our barrio with all the proceeds supporting the work of New Hope Girls Inc.  We had our first public sale locally Saturday where we sold 25 pairs of sandals! The women were so excited and encouraged.

If you are interested in purchasing sandals or hosting a party to sell the sandals and share the vision of New Hope Girls,  email us at newhopedr@gmail.com

Please pray for the women and this project. May it be a sustainable work that blesses families, the community and the ministries of Nueva Esperanza—New Hope Girls Inc.
