Our Founder
Joy Reyes is a passionate advocate, leader, and storyteller committed to rescuing, restoring, and empowering girls who have survived trafficking, abuse, and extreme vulnerability. After moving to the Dominican Republic with her family in 2004, she has become the driving force behind New Hope Girls, creating a refuge where girls find safety, healing, and the opportunity to dream of a brighter future.
Under Joy’s leadership, New Hope Girls provides not only education, mentorship, and life skills but also sustainable employment for women. Through partnerships with brands like Vera Bradley and Pura Vida, women handcraft bags and accessories, turning their work into a form of justice and hope. Joy’s background in education, psychology, and trauma-informed care has shaped her into a recognized leader in creating spaces of restoration for survivors of exploitation.
Through her work, Joy has cultivated a movement that turns rescue into restoration, equipping both girls and women to step into lives of dignity, independence, and hope.
